Amanda Mullee (b. 1982, United States) is an artist and writer based in Rotterdam. Art as a medium of contact and exchange lies at the heart of her practice. Relying heavily on encounters with others, she investigates themes such as immigration and the evolving frameworks of cultural identity, memory, the limits of language, and desire. Translation as both a destructive and creative process also figures prominently in her practice. Melancholic, evocative and polyvocal, her work aims to communicate experience and a sense of place in ways that lie outside traditional notions of the document and representation.
